In what is being touted as a “first” in cyber risk management solutions, tech giants Apple and Cisco have announced a partnership with Aon plc (“Aon”) and Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS). An organization adopting the solution would undergo a cyber security assessment by Aon, be required to use Cisco ransomware products or qualified Apple products, like Macs, iPhones or iPads, and obtain cyber insurance coverage underwritten by AGCS.

According to Bill Scaldaferri, President and CEO of AGCS North America: “proactive analysis coupled with the latest technology creates an ideal defense against today’s ever-changing ransomware and malware attacks.” The solution also includes access to Cisco and Aon’s incident response teams. The success of the proposed solution and whether it will result in lower cyber insurance premiums and deductibles remains to be seen.
