Keeping IT Legal

As of May 1, 2021, Kathy Ossian has retired Ossian Law P.C. and is continuing to practice law as Of Counsel to Schuster Law PLC (ossian@schusterlawplc.com) and

Of Counsel to Young Basile (ossian@youngbasile.com)

Kathy thanks all of the wonderful Ossian Law P.C. clients; it has been a pleasure serving you over the past 8 years and I look forward to continuing to work with many of you as Of Counsel to Schuster Law PLC and Of Counsel to Young Basile!

What I Do

Technology Contracts

Whether your organization is procuring the latest technology solution or offering your own to others, having the right contract terms in place is essential.  My approach is to use straightforward language designed to protect our clients in software licenses, subscription service contracts, reseller agreements, service provider contracts, web-based terms of use, non-disclosure agreements and any other agreements involving the procurement or use of technology and related services.

Data Protection & Compliance

Keeping your sensitive data secure is a concern for every organization.  Proper handling of  proprietary business information and confidential customer data is essential.  Violation of federal and state data protection laws can result in fines and civil liability.  My approach is to assist clients in implementing policies and procedures toward compliance and the proper steps to take in the event of an incident, including meeting various breach notification requirements.

IT Policies

Information Technology policies are vital to the operation of your business.  Privacy policies should convey your organization’s actual practices with respect to data use, retention and sharing of customers’ personally identifiable information.  Effective policies need to address business  use of social media, device management (including both corporate owned and personal devices used to conduct business) and confidentiality, just to name a few.  My approach is to thoughtfully tailor policies to achieve clients’ specific goals and needs.
